I love being able to share that passion & hope that through my group and individual classes, I can guide you toward feeling your very best self!"
Kevin was a regular participant in Pilates classes for a number of years before completing the Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork with ActiveIQ in 2011.
Pilates works on the deep core & stabilising muscles of the body to strengthen & condition muscles, stabilise joints, increase flexibility, challenge balance & re-educate posture as well as reducing stress to create a fitter & more functional ‘you’. The principles that guide the Pilates method include a concentration on controlled, precise & flowing movements with a steady, flowing breath.
Expect a combination of traditional matwork exercises, mindful movement & functional fitness influenced by Kevin's many years of yoga practice. These low-impact body conditioning exercises are performed in standing, kneeling, seated & lying positions; & class concludes with a short period of relaxation.
Kevin completed an intense month-long (300 hours+) teacher training course in Jivamukti Yoga at Govardhan Eco Village in India during February 2018. Kevin continues to be a student of yoga through his daily sadhana practices.
The Jivamukti Yoga method integrates traditional yoga practices into a modern lifestyle; combining physical, intellectual, mental & spiritual aspects of yoga.
Expect vinyasa-based asana sequences, yogic philosophy, scriptural study, Sanskrit chanting, music, pranayama, meditation & relaxation in Kevin's classes.

A former Mathematics graduate who then spent much of his twenties travelling the world, Kevin has been practicing yoga sporadically for over 20 years. It was only when he was pursuing a variety of dance styles (including street, ballet & contemporary) in his early thirties that Kevin was drawn to a more regular & consistent yoga practice as a way to counterbalance the effects of many hours dancing & working as a teacher. Whilst travelling, Kevin also became a vegetarian & then a vegan soon after. You could say this was the dawning of 'yoga' for him - everything was starting to connect & join together (the word 'yoga' translates as union; connection; to join).
After trying out a number of different styles of yoga, Kevin was introduced to Jivamukti Yoga & quickly knew that this was the method that resonated the most with him - a vigorous physical practice that advocates an ethical lifestyle. Kevin deepened his studies with the support of a number of yoga teachers both locally & further afield; began more independent study; & found himself drawn further into the depth & vastness that is Yoga.
The rest as they say is history.
Kevin has many years of teaching experience & is passionate about sharing the benefits of both Joseph Pilates' method of conditioning & the ancient teachings of yoga with everyone.
