KEVIN JONES YOGA & PILATES | MEET KEVIN
JIVAMUKTI YOGA & PILATES TEACHER | TAMWORTH | STAFFORDSHIRE
Kevin Jones specialises in teaching matwork Pilates & the Jivamukti Yoga method in both a group & individual setting.
Kevin was a regular participant in Pilates classes for a number of years before completing the Level 3 Diploma in Matwork Pilates. His Pilates classes combine traditional matwork exercises, mindful movement & functional fitness whilst being influenced by his many years of yoga practice. Expect low-impact body conditioning exercises performed in standing, kneeling, seated & lying positions. Pilates works on the deep core & stabilising muscles of the body to strengthen & condition muscles, stabilise joints, increase flexibility, challenge balance & re-educate posture as well as reducing stress to create a fitter & more functional ‘you’. Class concludes with a short period of relaxation. The principles that guide the Pilates method include a concentration on controlled, precise & flowing movements with a steady, flowing breath.
More recently, Kevin was blessed to be able to complete the rigorous month-long (300 hours+) Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training at the Govardhan Eco Village in India. Intellectually stimulating & spiritually uplifting, the Jivamukti Yoga method integrates traditional yoga practices into a modern lifestyle; combining both the physical & spiritual aspects of yoga. Expect vigorous vinyasa-based asana sequences, yogic philosophy, scriptural study, Sanskrit chanting, music, pranayama, meditation & relaxation.

Kevin has an academic background, having studying Mathematics at Loughborough University in the late 1990's, before travelling the world in his late twenties; Kevin has been practicing yoga sporadically for over 20 years now.
It was only when he was pursuing a variety of dance styles (including ballet & contemporary) as an enjoyable way to stay healthy in his early thirties that Kevin was drawn to a more regular & consistent yoga practice as a way to counterbalance the effects of many hours dancing & working as a Pilates teacher. Whilst travelling Kevin had also became a vegetarian & then a vegan soon after - everything was starting to connect & join together (the dawning of the state of YOGA).
The aim of all yoga practices is the realization of the oneness of being.
After trying out a number of different styles of yoga, Kevin was introduced to the Jivamukti Yoga Method & quickly knew that this was the method that resonated the most with him - a vigorous physical practice that advocates an ethical lifestyle. Kevin deepened his studies with the support of a number of Jivamukti Yoga teachers both locally & further afield; began more independent study; & found himself drawn further into the depth & vastness that is Yoga... & organically moved further away from dance...
The rest as they say is history.
Gratitude for these ancient teachings of yoga.
Blessings, love & thanks to all teachers past, present and future... knowing that the only true teacher is the teacher within.
Om bolo shri sat guru bhagavan ki jai

Kevin was blessed to be able to complete the rigorous month long Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training at Govardhan Eco Village in India during February 2018 - facilitated by Sharon Gannon, Yogeswari Eichen & Moritz Ulrich, mentored by Andrea Kwiatkowski & studied Sanskrit with Manorama D'Alvia. Kevin continues to be a student of yoga through his daily sadhana practices.
Kevin has many years of teaching experience & is passionate about sharing the benefits of both Joseph Pilates' method of conditioning & the ancient teachings of yoga with everyone.
Kevin says, "May each of you find safety & happiness in taking class & may you leave feeling healthier physically, mentally, emotionally & spiritually, so that you can live your life with ease & come to realise the interconnectedness of all life".
